Geetha Kannan, Managing Director of AnitaB.org, India spoke to The Hindu about ABI’s role in helping women technologists attain their goals, upcoming AnitaB.org India programs and gender diversity.
This year, we are organising the Tech for Good 2015, the exclusive women-only hackathon. The hackathon is a great opportunity to interact and code with other women students and industry professionals from computing and technology backgrounds. During the hackathon the participants will work on ideas and projects that have a social impact.
The hackathon will be conducted as a contest over two rounds. The first round will be conducted in five different cities (Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Madurai, New Delhi and Pune). The top finalists selected from the first round will present their applications at the grand finale which will be held at the GHCI 2015 conference.
When we focus on gender diversity and inclusion, the objective is to increase the representation of women in the workforce which is currently less due to several factors. It is never a compromise on capability, equal opportunities and competition.
